Self as Landscape began as a theme in August 1993 during a trip to Boulder, Colorado and San Francisco, California, visiting friends who photographed me with a pre-digital, 35-millimeter point-and-shoot Yashica camera. Wearing the home-made tie-dyed tuxedo/sailor suit allowed us to use my figure as a colorful splash on the landscape.
